The Colorado

columbine

The Colorado Columbine is the state flower of Colorado. It was introduced as the state flower in April of 1899. It blooms in the spring and it has blue petals with a couple purple petals too. It adapted like this to atract pollonators to help it reproduce.

Mountain Goats

Mountain goats aren't actually goats. They are in the antelope family. They have hooves with two separate toes and rough pads on the bottom for a strong grip. This is to help them climb. They are vegetarians so when they can find mineral salt in rocks tit helps them survive with the added vitamins.

Woolly Mullein

The Woolly Mullein is an invasive species that lives in dry eastern areas. If you leave this plant untamed it will take over. The often large rosette is made up of large, thick, woolly silvery leaves.

The Collared Pika is a small vegetarian bunny like mammal that saves food for winter all summer long. It saves some toxic plants in its stores which will decompose slower. Better for longer!
